Research Collaborations and Partnerships
NQRTH collaborates with key organisations and networks to expand research opportunities for medical students and junior doctors, foster research engagement, and improve healthcare outcomes across northern Queensland. These partnerships also enable joint research initiatives that address community needs and strengthen regional and rural health systems.

Tropical Australian Academic Health Centre (TAAHC)
TAAHC is a collaboration between the five hospital and health services in northern Queensland, the Northern Queensland Primary Health Network, the Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council and James Cook University, including the Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine.

Queensland Health Hospital and Health Services (HHSs)

Northern Queensland Primary Health Network
Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) works to improve health outcomes by connecting care, supporting primary health providers, and commissioning services where they’re needed most.
NQRTH is an initiative of the Australian Government's Integrated Rural Training Pipeline (IRTP) and is facilitated by James Cook University in partnership with public and private hospitals, Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council (QAIHC), health services, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) and GP clinics.
