2027 Episode 3: RMO and Registrar Information Session Q&As
Please note: Recruitment processes and eligibility requirements may change each year. Applicants should refer to the official Queensland Health Intern Campaign website for the most up-to-date information.
Q. Can applicants with AMC CAT MCQ passed and eligible for limited registration and a Permanent Resident, apply in this campaign?
A. Yes, you are able to apply to the RMO campaign. All positions are for the 2027 clinical year.
Q. I am an IMG who graduated from China and passed AMC MCQ. I completed a 12-month undergraduate internship and I am currently undertaking full-time postgraduate clinical training in Internal Medicine/Emergency Medicine in China. Because my internship was undergraduate and I do not currently hold medical registration in my home country, I understand I may require Level 1 supervision for APHRA purposes. In this situation, would I still be eligible to apply for Queensland RMO/JMO campaigns? Also, are there any roles within the RMO campaigns that are designed for or able to support IMGs requiring Level 1 supervision while completing internship-equivalent supervised practice?
A. There are facilities that accept level 1, if you haven’t completed a recognised internship though it sounds like you should look at the intern campaign.
Q. How should IMG's give a criminal check and VPD? Can it be submitted after the job offer?
A. The VPD can be submitted at a later date. The Criminal history form must be completed during the application.
Q. For CVs, is 4 pages still acceptable for RMO Applications or should I try harder to shorten it further?
A. Yes, there is also a template that you can use https://www.careers.health.qld.gov.au/medical-careers/resident-medical-officer-rmo-and-registrar-campaign/application-documents
Q. If I am unable to complete the vaccination requirements, due to living overseas, do you know if there is usually any solution for situations like this? For example, would hospitals allow candidates to complete it after arrival in Australia, or is there any alternative approach for this requirement?
A. You don’t need the VPD at the time of application, but must be ready for onboarding.
Q. If someone has a gap of more than 10 year, however cleared AMC clinical exam and did residency of three months. Do you consider hiring doctors with long gaps?
A. If you are able to obtain AHPRA registration, yes you will be considered.
Q. I have done internship in my home country. Currently living in Australia. I have no other experience apart from internship. Am I eligible for RMO positions? I have more than 2 years clinical gap. Should I go for internship campaign?

A. You would need to secure an accredited intern position in Australia to assist in gaining registration with AHPRA.
